Re-post from NOAA: "This video, created by our partners at the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), is a fantastic example of why international collaboration is so important. it shows an entire year of weather across the globe during 2015 using data from NOAA, EUMETSAT, and JMA geostationary satellites. Weather is not a local phenomenon, with interconnected events constantly evolving across the globe. And while NOAA's Satellite and Information Service operates many satellites, no one country alone can afford to effectively monitor the entire Earth. Learn more about NOAA's international partnerships at go.usa.gov/cEX43 This video is courtesy of EUMETSAT's data visualization team and can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4mBYwBNULk."

A team of scientists has launched a series of research flights over the remote seas surrounding Antarctica in an effort to better understand how much carbon dioxide the icy waters are able to lock away. Called ORCAS, the field campaign will provide a rare look at how oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between the air and the Southern Ocean. Teach your students how to measure oxygen in water with this GLOBE protocol: http://1.usa.gov/20tdse9
