What is the connection between the Sahara Desert, Amazon forests, and climate change? That’s exactly what NASA researchers are trying to discover – with the help of the #CALIPSO (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite), which uses a laser range finder to scan Earth’s atmosphere for the vertical distribution of dust and other aerosols. CALIPSO regularly tracks the Sahara-Amazon dust plume.
