GLOBE to Remain at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)
The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) has been selected to host the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) under NASA awards NNX09AF27A and NNX14AK03A. Under the leadership of Dr. Tony Murphy, the GIO will coordinate and support the implementation of GLOBE worldwide, working closely with the overall GLOBE program management at NASA Headquarters, and the GLOBE data and information system at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the performance of this function.
The GIO will continue its commitment to scientific and pedagogical integrity, and engagement of the community through collaboration in the advancement of GLOBE. As part of this new function of the office, the GIO, including the five regional offices, will also support the new GLOBE Working Groups on Education, Evaluation, Science and Technology drawn from the international GLOBE community, facilitate communications and collaboration amongst U.S. and international partners, as well as launch various initiatives such as the GLOBE Distinguished Educator Fellowship.
