If you would like to take a look at the actual SMAP satellite data. It is now available HERE!
The SMAP data is pretty hard to access. You would want to access the World View Map:

Go to https://nsidc.org/data/smap/smap-data.html

Find SMAP L3 Radiometer Global Daily 36 km EASE-Grid Soil Moisture and click on link

Click on link, in the “Get Data” section that says “Package Options”

Click on World View link

Once in World View, click on “+” to add layers

Type SMAP in search box

Scroll down to find “Soil Moisture (L3, Passive) SMAP / Radiometer”

You can then use the bottom data bar to access specific calendar days.

Once you find a day of interest, you can click the icon to the right of the”+” to download the data. The data will be in a binary format and might require specific software.

We are working to get a clickable map on the GLOBE web site soon.
