This year, I will be teaching 4th grade science in Canton City Schools, Ohio. My plan is to start the science year with an authentic learning experience: the solar eclipse. We will do pre and post activities along with viewing the eclipse. This is an amazing opportunity to start the year with a jolt of excitement and positivity for learning. These students have so little and to be able to experience a real science phenomenon in their own school yard and community will be something that they will not soon forget.
