Project scientist at NCAR and with The GLOBE Program Office

Greetings! I wanted to be the first to introduce myself to you all. I am a Project Scientist at NCAR in Boulder, CO. I am an atmospheric scientist and I primarily study cloud physics (cloud and precipitation formation). I joined The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) in January 2011 because I feel very strongly that we need to improve science education by making it more relevant to real world issues and students' lives, and we need to improve the general public's view of what science is, how it is valuable, and who scientists are. As part of my role in GPO, I am helping organize this network. GLOBE has such a long history of great scientists working with the program and I am very fortunate to have gotten to meet and work with many of them. I am also looking forward to meeting and working with new scientists that join this network. I believe that GLOBE is a great way to incorporate science education into ongoing or proposed scientific efforts because it has established activities and protocols, as well as a network of teachers and schools to work with. I hope all of the GISN members will be able to utilize these benefits of working with GLOBE, as well as I hope we can connect with each other via this network to learn about each others' experiences, best practices, and tips on incorporating science education into our scientific careers.
