    <title>Emmanuel Boss, a new  GISN</title>

    <summary type="html">Just joined this community. I am a physical oceanographer/aquatic physicist that uses and develops optical methods to study oceans and lakes (much more at: http://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/). In addition we spend a lot of energy on science education, particularly on hands-on ways to get kids/student excited about science (http://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/education.php).&lt;br /&gt;My lab recently developed and validated an iPhone App to obtain water turbidity using the iPhone camera (http://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/research/HydroColor.php). We are in the process of making and Android one as well as developing a new App to get Albedo. I hope that these could one day be part of the sensors used in Globe.&lt;br /&gt;Please feel free to use me as a resource on all aspect of optical remote sensing, turbidity, fluid dynamics and radiative transfer.  &lt;br /&gt;Looking forward to a fruitful and fun collaboration, Emmanuel</summary>

    <title>Project Manager and Scientist - The GLOBE Program</title>

    <summary type="html">Hi everyone!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My name is Julie Malmberg and I work with The GLOBE Program.  At GLOBE, I am the PI on an NSF-ITEST grant, called &amp;#34;From Learning to Research.&amp;#34;  For the grant, we are working to create a model for student-teacher-scientist interaction using 21st Century Skills.  This is our second year of the grant and we are working with our second group of teachers from the US.  In total, we have worked closely with about 75 teachers all from the US.  The culminating project each school year is a student virtual conference hosted on globe.gov.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My other job at GLOBE is managing the Student Climate Research Campaign (SCRC).  For this campaign, we work with students and teachers around the world to investigate their local climates.  We have IOPs (Intensive Observing Periods), webinars, competitions, climate activities, and student reports.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have my MS from the University of Illinois in Atmospheric Sciences and am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Geography.  I also have been teaching online college courses in Meteorology and Geography since 2003.</summary>

    <title>Associate Scientist with The GLOBE Program</title>

    <summary type="html">Hello from Boulder, CO!  I&amp;#39;m an associate scientist with The GLOBE Program working in the Program Office (GPO).  I&amp;#39;m an atmospheric scientist, with a background in climate.  After I completed my Master&amp;#39;s Degree in Atmospheric Science, I worked at NCAR exploring climate with respect to the energy budget and hydrologic cycle.  In January of 2011, I was given the opportunity to use that knowledge to support The GLOBE Program&amp;#39;s science interests on a part time basis, and realized quickly that using my skills with this program was where my true interests lay.  I loved knowing that the work I was doing with The GLOBE Program would help groom the next generation of scientists worldwide.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since I started full time in August of 2011, I have held many different responsibilities.  One of those responsibilities is the day-to-day maintenance of the GLOBE International Scientist Network (GISN).  Many of you may have received emails from me at one point or another, whether it be to follow-up about an inquiry into the network or to welcome you.  Additionally, I manage the &lt;a href="http://blog.globe.gov/sciblog"&gt;GLOBE Scientists&amp;#39; Blog&lt;/a&gt;, which is a blog dedicated to bringing topics of relevance to the community to hopefully inspire research from students and teachers.  I also support the other members of the Science and Education team by providing input and suggestions to the variety of exciting projects within the office.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&amp;#39;m excited to watch the network continue to grow, and hope that you too will find fulfillment in working with the wonderful students in the GLOBE community!</summary>

    <title>Project scientist at NCAR and with The GLOBE Program Office</title>

    <summary type="html">Greetings!  I wanted to be the first to introduce myself to you all.  I am a Project Scientist at NCAR in Boulder, CO.  I am an atmospheric scientist and I primarily study cloud physics (cloud and precipitation formation).  I joined The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) in January 2011 because I feel very strongly that we need to improve science education by making it more relevant to real world issues and students&amp;#39; lives, and we need to improve the general public&amp;#39;s view of what science is, how it is valuable, and who scientists are.  To learn more about me, you can read my bio on &lt;a href="http://www.globe.gov/web/saraht/"&gt;&lt;a href=""&gt;my public profile&lt;/a&gt; page&lt;/a&gt;, and please if you have any specific questions for me, you can reply to this post, write on my profile page wall, or send me a private email message.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As part of my role in GPO, I am helping organize this network.  GLOBE has such a long history of great scientists working with the program and I am very fortunate to have gotten to meet and work with many of them. I am also looking forward to meeting and working with new scientists that join this network.  I believe that GLOBE is a great way to incorporate science education into ongoing or proposed scientific efforts because it has established activities and protocols, as well as a network of teachers and schools to work with.  I hope all of the GISN members will be able to utilize these benefits of working with GLOBE, as well as I hope we can connect with each other via this network to learn about each others&amp;#39; experiences, best practices, and tips on incorporating science education into our scientific careers.</summary>
