Asia and Pacific Regional Coordination Office Hosts Virtual Wetlands Symposium
In December 2022 and February 2023, the GLOBE Asia and Pacific Regional Coordination Office (RCO), in an effort to promote the Water Bodies Intensive Observation Period (IOP), hosted a virtual symposium entitled “GLOBE Asia and Pacific Virtual Wetland Symposium." The symposium was focused on the theme of wetland restoration, with the goal of raising awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and the planet.

GLOBE Jordan Incorporates Educational Games to Help Implement GLOBE Protocols During Near East and North Africa Regional Meeting
“Our story began when we prepared to host the fourth day of the GLOBE NENA (Near East and North Africa) Regional Meeting in Jordan in November 2022,” Reem Dahnous, a GLOBE Science Teacher/Head of Science Department at Alshouf International Schools in Amman, Jordan, said. “It was an amazing day by engaging students to play games that implement and serve all of the GLOBE protocols.”

GLOBE Czech Republic Autumn Climate Challenge Provides Practical – and Inspirational – Education on Climate
Last Autumn, between 01 September and 30 November, GLOBE Czech Republic hosted the Autumn Climate Challenge, which, they believe, is just the “first step” in realizing success in motivating teachers and educating students on the impacts of climate change in an inspirational and practical way.

Asia and Pacific Regional Coordination Office Hosts GLOBE Learning Expedition in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal
The GLOBE Regional Coordination Office for Asia and Pacific, in association with the Indian Environmental Society (IES), and in collaboration with the Environmental Camps for Conservation Awareness (ECCA) and the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO), organized a seven-day GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal, from 27 September through 03 October 2022.

From Students to Students: GLOBE Estonia Hosts 25th GLOBE Regional Learning Expedition in 2022
In August, the GLOBE Regional Learning Expedition (GRLE) 2022 took place in Käsmu. The event brought together 160 students, teachers and researchers from Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Slovenia, Ukraine, and the United States to the Käsmu peninsula, which is located in Lahemaa National Park.

Largest Research Competition Takes Place During 2021/2022 GLOBE Contest and Student Conference in Switzerland
On 24 June 2022, the grand finale of the GLOBE Contest took place during the Student Conference in Bern, Switzerland. Over 300 groups of students submitted their own work in the areas of biodiversity, climate change, soil, and water quality. Sixty-two groups, with over 170 students and their teachers, were invited to the national conference and were able to present their results.

GLOBE Malta Continues Successful Collaboration with Xrobb l-Ghagin Park to Research Urban Heat Islands
GLOBE Malta collaborated with Xrobb l-Għaġin Nature Park and Sustainable Development Center for the second consecutive year; this time focusing on the Urban Heat Island Effect (UHIE). The Park consists of over 155,000 square metres, and is situated on a jutting peninsula with scenic views, including the Delimara peninsula and the white cliffs of Munxar.

GLOBE Ireland Hosts Air Quality Campaign End-of-Year Event to Showcase and Celebrate Student Efforts
On 10 May 2022, GLOBE Ireland hosted a virtual Air Quality Campaign “End-of-Year” event from Dublin, Ireland. More than 200 people attended the event, including primary school student classes, secondary school groups, and teachers. In addition, Dr. Tony Murphy (GLOBE Implementation Office/GIO Director), Andy Fanning (Irish Environmental Protection Agency/EPA Programme Manager), members of the Irish EPA citizen science team, Dana Votapkova and Lenka Kleger (GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Coordination Office), scientists from University College Cork, and Ramona Mercieca (GLOBE Malta Country Coordinator) participated in the event.
