GLOBE Ireland Hosts Air Quality Campaign End-of-Year Event to Showcase and Celebrate Student Efforts
On 10 May 2022, GLOBE Ireland hosted a virtual Air Quality Campaign “End-of-Year” event from Dublin, Ireland. More than 200 people attended the event, including primary school student classes, secondary school groups, and teachers. In addition, Dr. Tony Murphy (GLOBE Implementation Office/GIO Director), Andy Fanning (Irish Environmental Protection Agency/EPA Programme Manager), members of the Irish EPA citizen science team, Dana Votapkova and Lenka Kleger (GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Coordination Office), scientists from University College Cork, and Ramona Mercieca (GLOBE Malta Country Coordinator) participated in the event.

Alaskan Youth Present Research at Earth Day 2022 Symposium
On Earth Day 2022, over 60 K-12 students came together from across Alaska to participate in a research symposium. “Over the past year, students used GLOBE and accessed Indigenous knowledge to learn about their local environments. During the symposium they presented posters showing what they learned and want to do next to benefit their communities,” Maggie House said in a recent University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) article.

GLOBE Taiwan Partnership Workshop Focuses on Microsplastics Monitoring to Gain Deeper Understanding and Raise Awareness
In November 2021, the GLOBE Taiwan Partnership hosted a workshop to help teachers learn how to develop a microplastics investigation protocol, and to provide a space where they could discuss how to incorporate the new knowledge into their classrooms. Fifteen teachers from 13 schools participated in the workshop.

First Teacher Training Workshop Takes Place in GLOBE Bhutan – “Milestone in Scaling Up Efforts to Engage Youth”
In January 2022, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the GLOBE Asia and Pacific Regional Coordination Office (RCO), the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO), and the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment Research (GLOBE Bhutan) the first teacher training workshop to implement The GLOBE Program introduced – and engaged – teachers from 12 schools in Bhutan.

GLOBE Ukraine Students Researched, Studied, and “Just Admired the Beauty” of Clouds During “GLOBE: Clouds Atlas of Ukraine” Project
“During 2020, the project ‘GLOBE: Clouds Atlas of Ukraine’ was conducted in Ukraine. It was a project to study clouds, their classification, formation processes, and the importance in the weather and climate on Earth,” Nataliia Fedorenko, the Deputy Country Coordinator for GLOBE Ukraine, said.

GLOBE Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting: “We Learn We Do with GLOBE” Develops Spirit of Scientific Learning and Collaboration
The GLOBE Asia and Pacific Regional Coordination Office (RCO), in association with GLOBE Thailand, The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), organized a Virtual Annual Regional Meeting. The meeting, which was held from 24-26 January, was an enriching success – with 280 participants joining the session through Zoom and 68 participants watching the sessions live on Facebook Streaming; and receiving 10,000 views post-screening on 24 January

GLOBE Taiwan Partnership Teachers Use Multidisciplinary Approach to Tackle Environmental Issues
“Since environmental issues are multidisciplinary problem, GLOBE Taiwan is helping teachers with different majors, and from different schools, gather together to develop teaching plans, share teaching experience, and discuss scientific investigations in GLOBE,” said Kuan-Ting Chen, assistant of Country Coordinator, Taiwan Partnership. “Moreover, we are encouraging teachers to work with international teams to improve their GLOBE teaching.”
