The 6th GLOBE Germany Students' Congress at the DLR School Lab in Cologne Porz
The Project Department "Agenda 21 in schools and youth work" at the North Rhine-Westfalia institute for schools, which is in charge of the NRW Globe-Germany schools, hosted the Globe-Germany Students' Congress for the second time on June 8, 2005, together with the DLR School Lab in Cologne-Porz. This was the 6th congress since 2000 and the third one at DLR.  >>

GLOBE Principle Investigator Visits the 2005 Estonia GLOBE Games
Dr. David Brooks, GLOBE Principle Investigator (PI) for Aerosols and Water Vapor, attended the Estonian GLOBE Games, which were held at a summer camp on the shores of the Baltic Sea near the town of Kuuresaare on the island of Saaremaa from August 9 to 11, 2005. Students and teachers from Estonia, Latvia, and Finland gathered to practice GLOBE protocols, make new friends and develop partnerships.  >>

The GLOBE Alumni International Network
Dana Votápková, Country Coordinator for GLOBE Czech Republic, made the statement at the 2005 GLOBE Annual Conference in Prague that the GLOBE Program not only captures the minds of students, but, also their hearts. When implemented fully, students are empowered to follow their call to make a difference in their communities. GLOBE, then, becomes the connector to a student's center of caring for their environment.  >>

Czech Republic hosts 1st European GLOBE Games
The town of Česká Třebová, Czech Republic, hosted the 1st European GLOBE Games from May 6 to 8, 2005, an expansion from the traditional Czech GLOBE Games. More than 400 students and teachers from 13 countries (Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lebanon, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovak Republic and Switzerland) participated in the event.  >>

The Art of GLOBE
GLOBE is about students learning more about the world around them through collecting and analyzing environmental data. GLOBE can also be included in many other classes - mathematics, geography, language and art. Art can be viewed as interpretation of the world - not with data but rather with emotion.  >>

7th Annual Czech GLOBE Games in Brumov - Bylnice
TEREZA, the GLOBE Country Coordinating body in the Czech Republic, organized the 7th Annual GLOBE Games in cooperation with GLOBE school Brumov-Bylnice Elementary School in the White Carpathians protected landscape area. Participants had the opportunity to arrive a day early and spend the day on an excursion in the beautiful countryside.  >>

The Second GLOBE Learning Expedition in Latvia
Students and teachers from five Latvian GLOBE schools participated in the Second GLOBE in Latvia Learning Expedition, in August 2004. Collecting environmental data was only a portion of the activities; students also had the opportunity to work with local scientists, learn about their natural history, and, of course, have fun! School teams also took turns writing up journal entries of the day's activities - a great way to include language arts into GLOBE activities!
