GLOBE Students Learn About Biodiversity at India Youth Forum
On 8 August 2012, more than 130 GLOBE students and teachers in Delhi, India, came together for the "Biodiversity on Edge 2012" Youth Forum, sponsored by the Indian Environmental Society (IES). Also in attendance were members of the GLOBE Asia-Pacific Regional Help Desk Office and the Department of Environment, Government of NCT (National Capital Territory) Delhi. This event gave Delhi students the opportunity to present various research projects pertaining to biodiversity and its conservation.  >>

Teachers in Udaipur, India, Receive Field-Based GLOBE Training
The Indian Environmental Society, along with the support of the Public Affair Section of American Embassy in New Delhi, organized a GLOBE Teacher Training Workshop in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Teachers from various schools across the state of Rajasthan participated in this program from 27-30 January 2011.  >>

GLOBE Students Study Effects of Climate on Biodiversity in Hong Kong
Thirty students and teachers from GLOBE schools in Delhi, India, visited the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden in Hong Kong as well as the Hong Kong Wetlands Park as part of a Biodiversity Learning Expedition organized by the Regional Help Desk Office for GLOBE in Asia and the Pacific. The expedition, sponsored by the Indian Environmental Society (IES), actively involved students in GLOBE projects and activities covering Biodiversity Conservation.  >>

Students in Punjab, India, Look to the Clouds with CloudSat
CloudSat, a NASA Earth observation satellite launched on 28 April 2006, is designed to study clouds and the role clouds and aerosols play in regulating Earth's weather, climate and air quality. CloudSat collects information about the vertical structure of clouds unavailable from other Earth observing satellites. Its data are improving our cloud models and providing a better understanding of human impact on the atmosphere.  >>

GLOBE India Implements Community-Based Water Monitoring Programme on the Yamuna River
Since the beginning of time, proximity to water has been essential to the birth, growth and spread of civilizations. Rivers, in particular, have spawned the growth of communities as sources of irrigation and channels of trade. Rivers often appear in the world's religious traditions for their mythic qualities, nourishing, cleansing, and sustaining life on their banks. In India, rivers are considered sacred.  >>

Environmental Educator Advocates Experiential Learning
U.S. GLOBE Partner, Mr. Henry Ortiz of the Los Angeles Unified School District in California, led a series of lectures and informal discussions on ways to prepare environmental education curricula and to increase the efficacy of science teaching. The lectures were sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India and took place between 6 - 11 August 2006. Over 250 faculty members, administrators, NGO representatives and students from Pune and Mumbai attended the lecture series.  >>
