GLOBE Stars in the Czech Republic
Over 3,000 children and adults gathered in the Czech Republic to celebrate Earth Day 1998 by taking GLOBE measurements. TEREZA, the non-governmental organization that administers the country's GLOBE Program, organized the celebration in the Prokop Nature Valley of Prague.  >>

At Rural Hall Elementary School in Rural Hall, NC, kids are begging GLOBE teacher Linda McDermon to make and report GLOBE measurements. "The kids in computer club and the kids who live close by just love coming in the summer and doing their GLOBE measurements," McDermon said. "Kids drop by my house or we'll meet at the pond. And they beg to have extra time to do the different protocols."  >>

Congratulations to GLOBE Students Cindy Demeulemeester, Olivier Maurice, and Joris Lochy -- winners in the Dirk Frimout Contest, a yearly science competition in Belgium for pupils in the last year of high school. The students presented a 300 page report discussing their research in atmosphere, hydrology, land cover, and soils and the relationship between all of these areas of study.  >>

GLOBE Stars in Jordan
Building on the early success of the GLOBE Program in Jordan, students and teachers gathered in Amman during the spring of 1998 for a special training workshop. 56 students and 29 teachers representing 16 schools practiced the GLOBE measurement protocols and mastered the use of the GLOBE Web site. Participants also conducted a Web Chat on remote sensing with Gary Lauten from the University of New Hampshire.  >>

Kazakhstan GLOBE Training Workshop, March 1997
The GLOBE Program was pleased to conduct a regional GLOBE Training Workshop in Almaty, Kazakstan, March 31-April 4, 1997. Participants came from throughout Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, and Russia to learn about the GLOBE Progam and to be trained in the GLOBE Protocols. The workshop was hosted and organized by the Kazakstani GLOBE Country Coordinator,the Fund in Support of Ecological Education.  >>
