Cameroon Students Research Effects of Climate on Local Agriculture
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has reported that "Africa is one of the most vulnerable continents to climate change and climate variability" and warns that higher temperatures caused by climate change will depress crop yields there, and in many parts of the world, over the coming decades. In Cameroon, GLOBE Alumni Network member Tamsu Fogue Marcelin and GLOBE students of the Lycee Technique Industriel and Commercial of Bafoussam are investigating this issue, focusing on the corn crop of the West province of the country.

GLOBE Students in Uruguay Apply GLOBE Data to Cloud Research
A group of 9 and 10 year old students from Republic of India Primary School No. 85 in Montevideo, Uruguay, have established a local science club known as "Cazanubes" or "Cloudchasers." They are carrying out cloud research activities from their school site, applying GLOBE protocols to observe cloud type and cover. The students are continuing the research started by their schoolmates in 2006, by analyzing and comparing data collected over the past two years.

Nepali Students Help Ensure Quality of Life in the Kathmandu Valley
The Bagmati River is the principal river of the Bagmati River Basin in central Nepal. Fed by springs, monsoon rainfall and a number of tributaries, the river originates in the north of Kathmandu Valley and flows on to North India, where it empties into the Ganges. For centuries it has been celebrated in music, poetry and literature because of the importance it holds in the cultural traditions of the Nepali people.

Latin America and the Caribbean V Regional Meeting San Antonio, Texas
The Fifth Meeting of GLOBE Country Coordinators in the Latin American and the Caribbean Consortium (CLAC) took place in San Antonio, Texas on 27-28 July 2007, preceding the 11th GLOBE Annual Conference. In attendance were Country Coordinators and representatives from Argentina, the Bahamas, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.

First GLOBE Regional GLE in Asia Held in Thailand
GLOBE Thailand recently hosted the first Asia Pacific Regional GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE). The regionally-funded GLE took place from 13—18 November 2007 at the Navy Phirom Hotel in Hua Hin. The event was organized to allow students to share their research projects with their peers, GLOBE scientists, and the greater GLOBE community. The GLE also promoted Earth system science research through a student-teacher-scientist-community collaboration model.

Latin America and the Caribbean V Regional Meeting San Antonio, Texas
The Fifth Meeting of GLOBE Country Coordinators in the Latin American and the Caribbean Consortium (CLAC) took place in San Antonio, Texas on 27-28 July 2007, followed by the 11th GLOBE Annual Conference. Country Coordinators and representatives attended from Argentina, the Bahamas, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. Country representatives and members of the GPO team are shown here at the GLOBE Annual banquet held at the historic Sunset Station.

GLOBE Teachers' Conference in Helsinki
On 21 September, educators from around Finland gathered at the American Resource Center at the National Library in Helsinki to attend the GLOBE Teachers' Conference. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, Vaisala and the Finnish Board of Education, the Teachers' Conference helped revitalize the GLOBE program in Finland by bringing together leading educators for a full-day of activities that provided numerous networking opportunities.

GLOBE Day Unites Students of Diverse Backgrounds at Israel Annual Conference
On 4 June 2007, GLOBE Israel hosted its Annual Conference in Bet-Shearim, Galilee in the North of Israel. More than 650 students and teachers from across the country attended to celebrate "GLOBE Day." GLOBE Israel Country Coordinator, Mr. Farid Hamdan of the Ministry of Education, reports, "GLOBE Day is very special in Israel because it unites students from so many different sectors."

10th Czech GLOBE Games in Sluknov, Czech Republic
The TEREZA Association and the Secondary Forestry School of Sluknov organized the 10th Czech GLOBE Games, in Sluknov, in May 2007. The games were held under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, County Council of the town Usti nad Labem and the City Council of Sluknov. Members of the Czech GLOBE Alumni Association cooperated and provided valuable assistance in preparation and organization of the Games.

Teacher Workshop in Niger Introduces GLOBE Classroom Guide Developed for West Africa
GLOBE trainers and Peace Corps Volunteers recently released the first edition of a classroom guide developed specifically for use by teachers and students in Niger and West Africa at a teacher workshop in August 2007, in Niamey, Niger.
