For the second year in a row, we observed and measured a fig tree near Mozirje (406 m). The last leaf from the fig tree fell on November 2. The leaves did not change color for a very long time. Only at the end of October did they begin to turn yellow. Once they started yellowing, we had windy days, which caused the leaves to fall very quickly, so they never turned brown. A similar thing happened the year before, when the yellowing leaves also fell due to the wind.

In 2025, the average temperature during the observation period was 14,7 °C, and 255 mm of precipitation fell during this time.

We compared the coloration of the leaves at our location with that at the Primary School Prelog in Croatia, which is 90 kilometers away (air distance). The difference in coloration is very significant. The reason could also be a different variety of fig tree. It is interesting, however, because we lie approximately at the same latitude and longitude.

Best wishes,
Simon Gračner with students
