ACTIVITY 3

Below is the green down data for out fig tree. On the December 2nd the leaves are still predominantly green.

This year we compared our data from the visualization tool to the tree in Petrrinja. The tree in petrinja started to change color in September, and our tree is still mostly green. We think that the difference is predominantly due to the differences in temperature, since the length of the day and the amount of rainfall in Rijeka and Petrinja are similar.

ACTIVITY 2

Hello again!

Due to the prolonged sunny weather and high temperatures, the color of the leaves on our fig tree did not change much. For that reason, we cannot share the date of the end of green down yet.

We also did not capture the change in the leaves color in GrowApp, because the color barely changed. Only one leaf changed color by two shades. That leaf can be seen in the photos below. The leaf color does not always look consistent, but that is due to the weather - sometimes we took the photos during sunny days, and sometimes it was cloudy. The most prominent change is the slight browning along the edges of the leaf.

ACTIVITY 1

Hello!

My name is Dolores Dobrinjkic. I am a GLOBE teacher at Natural Sciences and Graphics Arts school in Rijeka (Prirodoslovna i grafička škola Rijeka). For 2022 autumn phenology campaign students will continue observation of the fig tree from previous campaigns. One of the smaller branches which held leaves we observed in the spring 2022 campaign is now broken. There are no other visible significant changes to the tree.

The tree is located in the park in front of the school. Thing to note is it that the fig tree is quite young and overshadowed by another tree. However, the branch we are observing is facing south and is exposed to plenty of sunlight.

GPS coordinates: N 45°20'13" E 14°25'32"
Altitude: 61 m
Latin name of the tree species: Ficus carica

We started observations on 20th September 2022. All leaves were completely green, color 5GY 3/2. Today, 29th September 2022, the color of the leaves remained unchanged.

Below is the photo of the fig taken with GrowApp application.
