GLOBE Impact Around the World

The international GLOBE network has grown to include representatives from 127 participating countries and 119 U.S. Partners coordinating GLOBE activities that are integrated into their local and regional communities. Due to their efforts, there are tens of thousands of GLOBE-trained teachers representing schools around the world. GLOBE students have contributed over 200 million measurements to the GLOBE database for use in their inquiry-based science projects.

GLOBE impact around the world is depicted below. Data listed are obtained from the GLOBE database daily and are, therefore, considered current.

Numbers of K-12 teacher participants and K-12 student participants who benefited from GLOBE training and subsequently participated in data collection during fiscal years 2003-2012 is also available.

Schools/Members

These column values equal the total number of users who are in or under the organization shown on the far left column. This total does not count users whose accounts have been deactivated.

Schools: Number of School organizations with a status of "GLOBE School". A GLOBE School is an organization which has or has had a GLOBE trained teacher associated with it.

Teachers: Number of users who have a verified GLOBE account, have been trained (either in person or via etraining) and are identified as "Teachers".

Students: By default, all "Teacher" users are associated with 25 students per school. All teachers are encouraged to update this default value.

GLOBE Observers: Number of users who created an account using the GLOBE Observer app or the GLOBE Observer account request form and have verified their email address.


Data

These column values equal the total amount of data entered into organizations associated with schools (Data Entered) or citizen science organizations (Citizen Science Org Data Entered).

Data Entered: Total amount of data measurements entered via school or virtual school organizations. A virtual school is created for all GLOBE Teachers who are not in a standard brick and mortar school.

Citizen Science Org Data Entered: Total amount of data measurements entered via users who are members of GLOBE's citizen science organizations.

Total Data Entered: Sum of "Data Entered" and "Citizen Science Org Data Entered".


Projects

These column values equal the total amount of projects and recognition associated with organizations and users who are in or under the organization shown in the far left column. This count does not include organizations which have been deactivated.

Honor Roll: Number of Honor Roll recognition awards that have been awarded. Recognition is given on a quarterly basis and are given to schools who achieve specified levels of data entry across various protocols and combinations of protocols. Stars: Number of GLOBE Stars. Stars are given to organizations to highlight extraordinary examples of projects, events, and activities conducted around the world that align with GLOBE and its mission. GLOBE Stars can be seen here: https://www.globe.gov/news-events/globe-stars.

Student Projects: Number of Student Research Reports. This includes all uploaded research reports such as IVSS, SRS, Mission Mosquito and standard student research reports. Student research reports can be seen here: https://www.globe.gov/do-globe/research-resources/student-research-reports.


Training

These column values equal the total number of users who are associated with the given training status and are in or under the organization shown on the far left column. This total does not count users whose accounts have been deactivated.

Trainers: Number of users who are identified as "Trainers". These users have completed appropriate GLOBE Trainer training and have been approved as "Trainers" by the GLOBE Program. Information on becoming a GLOBE Trainer is available here: https://www.globe.gov/web/trainers/overview/apply.

Mentor Trainers: Number of users who are identified as "Mentor Trainers". These users have completed appropriate GLOBE Mentor training and have been approved as "Mentor Trainers" by the GLOBE Program. Master Trainers (Archived): Number of users who are identified as "Master Trainers (Archived)". This designation was originally created to designate "train the trainer" individuals. It was replaced by Mentor Trainer in the recent past to better capture the role of these individuals in GLOBE.

Workshops: Number of completed protocol training workshops.

People Trained: Number of users who are identified as "Trained". These users have completed an in-person GLOBE workshop or eTraining and have been approved by an appropriate individual.
