If you are attending the Michigan Science Teachers Association (MSTA) Conference this coming Friday, March 2, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan (United States of America), I welcome you to join myself (Jeff Bouwman), David Bydlowski, and Andy Henry.  We are excited to present Aerial Exploration of Environmental Study Sites, Using Kites, Cameras and Other Sensors on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 9:00 AM and #GettingScienceDone – Citizen Science on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM.  Aerial Exploration of Environmental Study Sites, Using Kites, Cameras and Other Sensors will focus on the exciting AREN Project and remote sensing.  Shumate Middle School (Gibraltar School District) is a proud partner of the AREN Project! Shumate Citizen Scientists have taken many cool images and measurements from “way above” the Shumate Middle School/Carlson High School campus.  We look forward to sharing data, aerial images, best practices, and funny stories.

Additionally, #GettingScienceDone – Citizen Science will focus on Citizen Science best practices and data collected by sixth and seventh grade students at Shumate Middle School.  Our goal is to provide resources and a model that educators can easily replicate in their own classroom to begin a Citizen Science program.  Simply put, we want to help you start #GettingScienceDone!
