In the GLOBE Clouds protocol and GLOBE Observer app, you can report if your sky is “overcast” or “obscured”. But what’s the difference? Below are some tips to help! All the photographs featured were collected by observers just like you - Thank you! The  GLOBE  Mission Mosquito   campaign was delighted to have 23 IVSS projects submitted that used the Mosquito Habitat Mapper tool in their research. I am pleased to announce that the Institute for Earth Observation’s at Palmyra Cove’s Innovation Lab is developing a virtual reality experience called Lunar Learning Expeditions that will allow visitors to explore the lunar surface. The first release models the Apollo 11 moon landing site where visitors can perform some of the early experiments as part of the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (EASEP). GLOBE teacher Vicky Gorman and her middle school students have been working hard to help reduce the threat of mosquito-transmitted disease in their region. Before they began to use the Mosquito Habitat Mapper, they did some research to find out which mosquito-transmitted diseases are found in their location. Whenever you submit a cloud observations, the GLOBE Clouds team at NASA Langley Research Center looks for satellites that were over your area at about the same time. The team then gathers the information from these satellites and compares them to your own observations. The result is a satellite match table that you receive through an email!    The table allows you to compare what you saw and what the satellite noted. The NASA Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) launched from Vandenberg AFB on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 6:02am PDT. On September 30, 2018, ICESat-2 fired its first laser and on October 3, NASA received the first height measurements from the satellite.
