“BE with GLOBE” at the 2021 GLOBE Annual Meeting Update – Sign Up for Zooniverse Today!

Zooniverse Banner

As part of the 2021 GLOBE Annual Meeting, GIO will again be hosting a “Benefit the Environment” or “BE with GLOBE” volunteer event. The acronym of GLOBE is “Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment,” and this optional time will highlight the “Benefit the Environment” part of the acronym! During the meeting, we are encouraging participants to sign up with Zooniverse, an online platform for people-powered research.

GIO will identify several projects to help with (like counting penguins or checking images for pollinators) that all benefit science and our understanding of the environment. And, we would also like to highlight a GLOBE project! Help NASA scientists identify clouds and events like dust storms and smoke plumes in sky photographs. NASA GLOBE CLOUD GAZE is a partnership between NASA GLOBE Clouds and Zooniverse. NASA GLOBE CLOUD GAZE allows you to identify cloud types, cloud cover, and other details in the sky photographs. The resulting detailed information, or metadata, will validate GLOBE Cloud observations. Practice your cloud observations skills and help NASA study our skies.
