Dr. Jack Kaye, Associate Director for Research, Earth Science Division, NASA Headquarters, enjoyed a visit to Fudan High School in Tao-Yuan City, Taiwan on 8 March 2016. Dr. Kaye’s guest appearance was arranged by the staff of the GLOBE Taiwan Partnership staff to give Dr. Kaye the opportunity to engage with students in the classrooms and outdoors while they were taking their daily environmental measurements. Dr. Kaye spoke about the importance of learning about and protecting the environment as well as the value of using GLOBE protocols in student research. He stressed the unique opportunity that GLOBE provides to collaborate with students and scientists all over the world. The students questioned Dr. Kaye about the issues of ocean acidification and consequences of sea level rise. They also asked questions about NASA and were curious about Dr. Kaye’s career with the space agency.

The meetings were a great opportunity for the participants to discuss the development of science education in Taiwan and to exchange ideas and experiences about teaching.

Many thanks to the GLOBE Taiwan Partnership for their hospitality while hosting Dr. Kaye for a wonderful day, during his visit to Taiwan.
