The rubrics for the 2017 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) are now available.

The 2017 IVSS takes place online, and K-16 students from any GLOBE country may participate. GLOBE students use the GLOBE data that they have entered into the database and should collaborate with scientists, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) professionals who are part of the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN).

In order to score the IVSS projects, a team of scientists will use the rubrics. Students and teachers are encouraged to use these rubrics when creating their reports.

The IVSS is a great opportunity for students to practice the skills they've learned through their involvement in The GLOBE Program and apply them to address real-world problems. It can be hard work, but the excitement that comes with discovery and new insights makes it worthwhile.

Every project that is submitted will be hosted on the Student Research Reports section and students will receive virtual badges to reward them for their work. There is no limit to the number of entries per student or per school and there is no limit to the number of students per project.

IVSS Timeline:

  • Reports accepted for submission from Jan 2017 to 03 April 2017
  • Reports and presentations due by 03 April 2017
  • Scores and badges announced on 15 May 2017
