Today (04 Feb) Find Out How Students Can Help NASA Scientists with Environmental Observations with GLOBE and GLOBE Observer Via MAEOE Virtual Conference
Interested in learning more about how NASA studies Earth? Find out how you and your students can help NASA scientists with environmental observations – and become more deeply involved in The GLOBE Program.
On 04 February, a day-long NASA-focused event will kick off the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) virtual conference (03-06 February). Workshops provided throughout the day will include information about The GLOBE Program and GLOBE Observer. Specifically, there will be a deep dive on the GLOBE Observer Mosquito Habitat Mapper tool (with information about how NASA Earth observations support our understanding of mosquito-transmitted disease) and the Tree Height tool (with information about the ICESat-2 mission); as well as a partnering with Earth to Sky (to help participants understand more about the use of NASA Earth observations to better understand and respond to climate change).
There will be a lunchtime panel discussion to help participants learn about many of the ways in which NASA Earth science missions help us understand and respond to climate change and resources that have been developed to help formal and informal educators share STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) applications of several of these missions. The GLOBE Program and Earth to Sky will also be featured in this panel. The evening program will focus on NASA's Earth Observing missions, related educational resources, and The GLOBE Program. There will be two booths hosted by GLOBE-related staff: a YLACES booth and a NASA/GLOBE booth.
