Letter to the Community

Dear Friends,
The 20th GLOBE Annual Meeting and 4th GLOBE Student Research Exhibition in Estes Park, Colorado, is just 3 weeks away! Here at the GLOBE Implementation Office, we are working hand-in-hand with Colorado partners Deanna TeBockhorst and John Ristvey, Director of the UCAR Center for Science Education. Whether you will attend the meeting in Colorado or not, you can follow along online during the week of 16-21 July. This is your go-to location for daily updates on the meeting as well as links to all social media direct from the meeting, updated daily from Colorado.
Because the GLOBE Implementation Office is humming with activity in preparation for our largest annual event (shown above: another Annual Meeting planning meeting just hours ago), this community letter will be a short one. To those who have completed the registration process, or are still planning to join us, please read on.
The meeting begins on Saturday 16 July. Time is getting short!
Go to www.globe.gov/annual-meeting to register; to access the list of hotels in the area that might be able to accommodate you; to plan post-meeting touring options in the area; and to find a summary agenda.
As part of the registration process, you are required to complete, sign and return several liability forms. If you have registered but have not returned the forms, please do so now. Should you arrive at the Annual Meeting without having completed these forms in advance, your registration process will be significantly delayed. Please download, sign, and send the forms to Dawn Wright or fax to 1-303-497-2638.
Are you wondering about the weather? Who can predict but, in general, days are likely to be very warm and evenings are likely to be chilly, due to the altitude of Estes Park at 2,438 meters (8,000 feet) above sea level. National dress in encouraged on the occasion of the final dinner. This has become a GLOBE tradition and, though not required, our group photo looks especially wonderful if participants are wearing national dress!
The theme of this year's meeting is Celebrating the GLOBE Community and I look forward to doing just that in Estes Park, Colorado, next month.
