Register Today for the 17 January GLOBE ENSO Student Research Campaign Webinar Sharing Information on GLOBE IVSS
Register today for the GLOBE ENSO Student Research Campaign webinar: “GLOBE Student Research Symposium.” The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 17 January, at 8:00 p.m. EST (1:00 a.m. UTC). You can join this webinar by registering here.
In this hour-long webinar, information about the GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposium, as it relates to the ENSO Student Research Campaign, will be shared. There will be presenters from the GLOBE Implementation Office as well as teachers and students. Participants will find out about the nuts and bolts of having students participate in this event, and find out about “Best Practices” from both teachers and students.
In addition, participants will hear from NASA scientist Ivona Cetinic who is the lead investigator for the “Sea to Space Particle Investigation” research cruise. Ivona will share about her research onboard this ship, including a description of how she develops her research questions and research plan. There will be additional events highlighting the research being done onboard the Sea to Sky Particle Investigation cruise:

There will also be a Google hangout for middle and high school students that will be hosted live on 01 February from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. (EST). Participants will get to take a “tour” of the ship and learn more about the research and the equipment that is being used to collect the data. (http://bit.ly/2iImFm2). There will also be a Facebook live event, in collaboration with the Earth Expeditions campaign, on 06 February at 2:00 p.m. (EST) – shared by @NASAEarth and other related accounts (for more information, visit: https://www.facebook.com/NASAOcean/).
There will be a special Google hangout for GLOBE teachers and scientists on 15 February at 7:00 p.m. (EST). During this event, participants will learn about the results of the research from several scientists who were onboard the research vessel, and will have a chance to ask questions about this work and results (visit: http://bit.ly/2iaRSKX). They are planning a NASA Earth Observatory Notes from the Field blog with contributions from the science party. (Summer of Innovation, or SOI, provides a multi-media specialist and an artist-at-sea, who will be sharing content and blogging on the SOI page. They will also be posting to @NASAOcean Facebook and twitter regularly and planning a NASA snapchat story.)
