Berks Nature uses the GLOBE Program as a central part of its community science efforts. GLOBE provides standardized protocols for data collection on local watersheds, the atmosphere, biosphere, and pedosphere, all of which are integral to Berks Nature’s environmental monitoring and conservation efforts. This partnership has also allowed Berks Nature to train adult volunteers, known as “community scientists,” to collect useful and reliable data.  >>

GLOBE Oman students are collecting data observations on local aflaj (traditional water canals). Their intention is to continue to collect data and compare current data with previously uploaded data to learn about environmental changes that may cause problems for the aflaj in the future.  >>

The first Guatemalan delegation of students to participate in the IVSS was able to join the GLOBE Latin America and Caribbean Regional Meeting in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in October 2024. These students, from the STEAM Program Guatemala, are preparing a report for the 2025 IVSS on forest cover and the prevalence of Dengue due to the increase of mosquitos in the region.  >>

GLOBE Dominican Republic students presented their research on microplastics at two events in 2024: World Water Day (Giornata Mondiale Dell'Aqua) in Mantua, Italy, and Science Fair 2024. The research was also highlighted at the recent Latin American and Caribbean Regional Meeting.  >>

Earlier this year, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) selected the Bayahibe rose, Dominican Republic’s national flower, as the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 official mascot. This development is particularly exciting for GLOBE Dominican Republic’s community because they had a direct influence in naming the Bayahibe rose as the flower to represent this Caribbean nation.  >>
