Eagle Scouts are leaders, and young Patrick Keal led his school to the GLOBE Program. Patrick, who has just graduated from eighth grade at St. Albert the Great School, was awarded the school's "110 Percent Memorial Award " named after a student who was known for always giving his very best. Principal Jeanne Flowers cited Patrick for his "persistence and unwavering perseverance while pursuing his goals" -- including GLOBE -- as well as his "kindness towards others."  >>

Prestigious science awards from the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) went to GLOBE students for displaying critical and creative thinking in science, mathematics and technology.  >>

"I know who I am, but WHERE am I?" A Florida Education Foundation grant has been awarded to eighth-grade GLOBE teacher Valerie LaHart at Cobb Middle School in Tallahassee, Florida, to buy needed equipment for mapping, GPS, longitude/latitude and other GLOBE activities.  >>

While some kids want dessert after lunch, the fourth-grade GLOBE students at Eastbrook Elementary School in Indianapolis, IN, look forward to taking their GLOBE measurements. "GLOBE has been an inspiration for the students and me!" GLOBE Teacher Mary Lou. Feist says. "I appreciate how the GLOBE Program fits into our current curriculum and combines the use of technology with real-life activities for the students."  >>

GLOBE students in Downington Middle School realize that they can make significant contributions to science - locally, regionally, and globally! After a special kick-off ceremony with local and federal elected officials, the GLOBE students have begun diligently collecting and reporting data for use in their own research projects as well as by professional scientists.  >>

Students at Gold Dust and Palomino Elementary Schools in Phoenix are actively engaged in research - both locally and globally! By faithfully making GLOBE measurements, and using features of the GLOBE Web site like GLOBEMail, these students are studying local environmental conditions and reaching-out to GLOBE students in other countries to expand their knowledge.  >>

GLOBE students at Middleport Elementary School in New York are living examples of what teamwork can accomplish. Students with a wide range of physical and learning challenges and abilities are working cooperatively to learn about their local environment and share their observations through the GLOBE Web site.  >>

A group of fourth-grade students from Louisiana are faithfully reporting their measurements and observations to the GLOBE Study Data Archive, but they aren't stopping there. GLOBE students at Phoenix Magnet School in Alexandria are taking their findings to City Hall and even to the Louisiana State Legislature.  >>

After five years of participation in GLOBE, students at New Miami Junior/Senior High are significantly contributing to scientific research and improving their test scores at the same time! School officials report that nearly three-quarters of the students who participated in GLOBE either in seventh or eighth grade passed the Ohio science proficiency exam.  >>

Students at Fairview Elementary School have proven themselves to be such professional young scientists, they are being recruited to teach teachers! The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, a GLOBE Franchise responsible for training many teachers statewide, has enlisted these talen ted youngsters to lead demonstrations as a regular part of their GLOBE Teacher Training Workshops.  >>
