Students of the Max-Planck School in Kiel, Germany, entered the GLOBE community relatively quietly, but just one year after joining, they happily found themselves involved in the program at a level they had not anticipated. In 2006, the school became part of the pilot project "Global Climate Exchange Education for School Children" between Germany, Cameroon and Estonia.  >>

GLOBE students from around the world took part in SciFest 2008 Finland from 16-19 April, in the city of Joensuu. SciFest Finland is an annual festival of science, environment and technology aimed at middle and high school students. It features hands-on activities, popular lectures, games, workshops, robotics competitions and interactive exhibitions as well as workshops for teachers.  >>

For one new GLOBE teacher attending the recent European Regional Train the Trainer Workshop, Martina Pulic, this was not her first experience with GLOBE. Martina attended high school (Gimnazija I Strukovna Skola Jurja Dobrile) in Pazin, Croatia, where her biology teacher introduced her to GLOBE protocols. After high school she was accepted to the Faculty of Science at Zagreb University and graduated in 2007 with a degree in biology. In September 2007, she returned to her high school, this time as a biology teacher, and her principal recommended her to be the GLOBE school coordinator.  >>

Gymnasium Schloß Neuhaus in Paderborn was awarded the prize as GLOBE Germany School of 2007. This honor was bestowed on students and headmaster of the school on 17 November in Bad Hersfeld during the yearly GLOBE Conference. The Award was presented by Professor Seybold, who founded the first GLOBE groups in Germany and started the first evaluation for GLOBE.  >>

A European Regional Train-the-Trainer Workshop was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 2 –7 November 2007. The event engaged a broad international reach, with 12 Trainers and 43 participants coming from 24 countries: Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Republic of Macedonia, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States.  >>

The Czech GLOBE Veterans (CGV) is an organization of GLOBE Alumni who aim to remain connected to the GLOBE Program beyond their primary and secondary school years. In the three years since they have joined together, the CGV have engaged in various projects to use the knowledge they acquired during their years with the GLOBE program in order to increase public awareness of environmental issues. Their Join the Nature project, taking place in the summer of 2008, presents a wonderful opportunity for 13-14 year old GLOBE students to experience GLOBE protocol training along with exposure to other students of different countries, with cultural activities, games and learning activities to make the week both educational and fun!  >>
