A record-breaking 53 school teams joined the annual GLOBE Student Conference held in Židlochovice, Czech Republic.  >>

Three students from Břidličná Elementary School began researching the conductivity, pH, temperature, and nitrate concentrations at multiple sites along the 7-km-long stream that crosses three villages using GLOBE Hydrosphere Protocols. Their research revealed high levels of contaminants. These findings have been presented at international conferences and made their way to political leaders who are using them to make decisions to better the lives of Czech Republic residents.  >>

GLOBE students in Czech Republic have planted a “tiny forest” outside of an elementary school. Using GLOBE protocols, students have researched their forest and presented their findings at international conferences.  >>

GLOBE countries in Europe and Eurasia celebrate Earth Day in many different ways, from citizen science projects to educational workshops and more.  >>

The conference includes meetings with GLOBE students and teachers, Student Science Fair and student presentations to celebrate Earth Day and GLOBE's birthday.  >>

In February, GLOBE Czech Republic awarded three GLOBE schools with the title "Czech GLOBE Star 2019" for their significant achievements during the year. This yearly acknowledgement of students, and their superior GLOBE-related efforts, began in 2016. Awarded schools receive diplomas, medals, and gifts from members of the Scientific Board of TEREZA Educational Center and the Regional Coordination Office of GLOBE’s Europe and Eurasia Region.  >>

In 2012, the Czech Republic held its 15th Annual GLOBE Games. The event took place in the picturesque town of Litomyšl, Czech Republic and was hosted by GLOBE Partner organization the TEREZA Association, along with Gymnázium Aloise Jiráska (the Grammar School) in Litomyšl. The theme of this year's Games was "We Have Been Rolling It Together for 15 Years."  >>

Approximately one year after its beginning, the second phase of the Tree Ring Project commenced with a workshop held on 19-22 September in Pisek, Czech Republic. Sixty five teachers and principals attended from 24 schools including ten from Norway, eight from Croatia and six from the Czech Republic. The Tree Ring Project began in 2011 as a part of the GLOBE Student Climate Research Campaign. Schools in Croatia, Czech Republic, and Norway are working together with scientists over a two-year period to study tree rings and learn how to extract climatic information from these markings.  >>

The Czech GLOBE Veterans (CGV) is an organization of GLOBE Alumni who aim to remain connected to the GLOBE Program beyond their primary and secondary school years. In the three years since they have joined together, the CGV have engaged in various projects to use the knowledge they acquired during their years with the GLOBE program in order to increase public awareness of environmental issues. Their Join the Nature project, taking place in the summer of 2008, presents a wonderful opportunity for 13-14 year old GLOBE students to experience GLOBE protocol training along with exposure to other students of different countries, with cultural activities, games and learning activities to make the week both educational and fun!  >>

The TEREZA Association and the Secondary Forestry School of Sluknov organized the 10th Czech GLOBE Games, in Sluknov, in May 2007. The games were held under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, County Council of the town Usti nad Labem and the City Council of Sluknov. Members of the Czech GLOBE Alumni Association cooperated and provided valuable assistance in preparation and organization of the Games.  >>
