At the MFL Mar-Mac Elementary School in Monona, Iowa, USA, Crystal Thurn's 3rd grade class spent three months last year studying seasonal change by doing a research project that took them outside their classroom on beautiful crisp days last Autumn. The project required that the students closely observe one maple tree in the schoolyard to see what factors might affect the tree as it changed color and dropped its leaves.  >>

The 2007 Western Regional National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Conference in Denver, Colorado, 8 - 10 November 2007, was well attended by the GLOBE community. The GLOBE Program Office booth was visited by an estimated 600 to 800 teachers each day. GLOBE Program Office (GPO) staff, including all members of the GLOBE Help Desk and Colorado GLOBE Partner Ms. Deanna TeBockhorst were on hand to share information about GLOBE.  >>

A group of 21 young explorers from the Tampa Bay Chapter of SCUBAnauts International will engage in an extraordinary journey to the middle of the Pacific Ocean from 11-21 October 2007. The mission, known as Operation: Deep Climb, will take local middle and high-school aged students from the deep depths of the ocean to the summit of the tallest mountain in the world, and into the universe beyond. Gathering GLOBE atmosphere and hydrology data will be a part of this exciting scientific expedition. The SCUBAnaut mission banner will be flown on the STS-123 Space Shuttle Mission in February 2008 to officially accomplish the mission to inspire a new generation of 21st Century Explorers and promote scientific understanding of the universe and marine environment.  >>

On 20 April 2007, over 600 5th - 12th grade students and teachers gathered from 21 Ohio schools to present and showcase their GLOBE research projects at the first annual OhioView SATELLITES Geospatial Technology Conference at the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio. OhioView, a grassroots organization founded in 1996, promotes the low-cost distribution of U.S. Government satellite data for public use.  >>

For the community of Lisle Illinois, the Morton Arboretum is "a place for trees, a place for people, and a place for fun." In late 2005, GLOBE teacher Maureen Nolan from Steeple Run School, decided it was a perfect place for GLOBE too. So Maureen loaned the arboretum some extra equipment, and with the help of Illinois GLOBE Training Coordinator Greg Lopatka, installed it into the arboretum's weather station in November.  >>

Greg Lopatka became a GLOBE trainer in March 1995. Since then, he has trained at 12 different workshops in places ranging from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA to University of Colorado in Boulder, CO.  >>

Recently, four juniors at Norfork High School; Renee L., Jacob M., Breanna V., and Kendra R. visited their former science classroom to celebrate the schools' achievement of reaching 100,000 points of data. The purpose of their visit was to share their enthusiasm for GLOBE with the present sixth graders and teach them how to take atmospheric measurements.  >>

The GLOBE School for Environmental Research opened its doors this September to 216 sixth grade students in the Wakefield neighborhood in East Bronx. This middle school (Grades 6-8) is one of 54 new small schools approved by the New York City Department of Education from more than 100 proposals, and represents a partnership among the Department of Education, Region 2, Queens College's GLOBE NY Metro Partnership, the YMCA of Greater New York, and the New York Botanical Gardens.  >>

This fall, a class of eighteen fifth-graders from Muskegon Heights, MI, teamed with a group of fifteen high school students from Hudsonville, MI, in a collaborative effort to collect water and air quality data. The link between these two schools was an interest in the environment through GLOBE - a global network of teachers, students and scientists dedicated to gathering and understanding accurate environmental data.  >>

Queens College's Dr. Alan Ludman and New York's Con Edison are true "GLOBE Stars" at the center of GLOBE NY's Metro Partnership. Queens College is the GLOBE Partner for southern New York State, responsible for introducing and supporting GLOBE in New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, and southern Westchester counties.  >>
