Recognizing that students also make good teachers, a new education center in Smithville, New Jersey is recruiting GLOBE students to help increase environmental awareness in the community. GLOBE students from the Burlington County Institute for Technology will volunteer at the Environmental Studies Center, teaching the GLOBE protocols to students visiting the center from area schools.  >>

Imagine walking out your school doors into the middle of a thick forest with bears, bobcats, deer and elk possibly roaming nearby. It may seem unusual, but it's just another day at Pine Elementary and Junior High School - a one-room school house for students of all ages located 60 miles from the nearest town in Idaho.  >>

In Huntsville, Alabama, second and fifth graders are learning about how sophisticated satellite imagery and hands-on GLOBE measurements work together to provide a better understanding of local and global environmental features. On Earth Day 1999, students from Jones Valley Elementary and Williams Elementary School joined researchers from the Global Hydrology and Climate Center (GHCC) for a day of learning and fun.  >>

From the stately halls of the United Nations Building in downtown New York City to the backwoods of rural New York State, GLOBE Teachers Patsy Cicala and Wayne Gilchrest are working with hundreds of students to expand global and local knowledge about the Earth's environment.  >>

Cooperation among GLOBE schools is flourishing both globally and, in some cases, locally! In West Chester, Pennsylvania, GLOBE students of different grade levels and even different schools have found that working together is a very effective way to carry out protocols and learn scientific concepts.  >>

GLOBE students at the Norwood School in Bethesda, Maryland, are sharing more than data. These hard-working students are also sharing the proceeds from a school fundraiser to help the Tsitsiboga Public School in Carltonville, South Africa, acquire an instrument set for conducting their GLOBE protocols.  >>

In their effort to diligently record and report atmospheric measurements, the students at Morehead Elementary in Morehead, Kentucky are not only helping scientists but they are also making history! In January 1999, Morehead Elementary became the 3000th GLOBE school to report data to the GLOBE Student Data Archive!  >>

From gardening to quilting, students at Jesse Stuart Elementary in Madisonville, KY, are finding creative ways to demonstrate the lessons they learn in GLOBE. Through weekly weather forecasts, the students are also helping others in their school to better understand Earth's environment.  >>

Eighth gradeGLOBE students at Nolan Middle School in Killeen, Texas, have already learned something all scientists appreciate: collaboration is a key to success. They have also come to appreciate that consistency and accuracy are important when sharing data.  >>

Having trouble identifying cloud types? Check with the second-graders at Major Edwards Elementary School in West Boylston, MA. Under the guidance of their teacher, Ms. Sandra Ivins, these young scientists have become real experts in identifying cloud cover and type.  >>
