West Virginia may not be the biggest state in the USA, but GLOBE-trained teachers account for a significant percentage of the science teachers there. Of the 808 K-12 schools in West Virginia, 316 schools have one or more GLOBE-trained teachers, demonstrating strong commitment on the part of West Virginia School Districts to the effectiveness of the hands-on science activities of the GLOBE Program.  >>

The TEREZA Association is a non-profit, non-governmental organization in the Czech Republic. TEREZA's mission is to encourage and support cooperation and active community participation in renewal and protection of a healthy environment, and thus contribute to the overall development of civic society. Founded in 1979, the organization's original focus was to preserve natural areas of Prague. Ten years later, TEREZA expanded its reach to include the development of environmental education in the Czech Republic, and shortly thereafter, opened the gates to its current headquarters in the heart of Prague.  >>

Sixth grade students from Primary School Nº 85, Montevideo, Uruguay, who conducted research on light pollution under the guidance of GLOBE Teacher Patricia Piriz, obtained the First Prize in the National Fair of Science Clubs of the Program of Popularization of Scientific Culture, organized by the Directorate of Innovation, Science and Technology for Development, of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay.  >>

CloudSat, a NASA Earth observation satellite launched on 28 April 2006, is designed to study clouds and the role clouds and aerosols play in regulating Earth's weather, climate and air quality. CloudSat collects information about the vertical structure of clouds unavailable from other Earth observing satellites. Its data are improving our cloud models and providing a better understanding of human impact on the atmosphere.  >>
