FAQ - GLOBE Accounts

Accounts

First, you must have completed training in GLOBE's protocols before you are allowed to enter data. In order to verify that GLOBE has records of your completed training, and to be able to enter data, click on the "Enter Data" button on the right side of the Homepage. On the "Data Entry" page, you will either be able to enter data, or you will see a message that indicates that you are required to complete a training.

Users do not get a "My Page" until they have signed up for — and have been approved for — a workshop. In order to see the status of your account, log in and then click on your name (top-right of the browser window) and select "My Account" from the menu. You will be taken to your account page. Select "GLOBE User Groups" from the options on the right. If "GLOBE User Groups" reads "Account Requested" under "Training Status," your account has not yet been approved, or you have not yet been accepted to a workshop. If your account remains in this state for an extended time, email globehelp@ucar.edu to determine if there is an issue.

Users are not allowed to join and participate in a community until their account has been approved. In order to see the status of your account, click on your name (top-right of the browser window) to get to your profile control panel page. Select "GLOBE User Groups" from the options on the right. If GLOBE User Groups reads "Account Requested," then your account has not yet been approved, or you have not yet been accepted to a workshop. All teachers who have completed their training will see a student account option on their "My Page." In order to access the "My Page," click on your name (top-right corner), then select "My Page" from the menu. You can set up student accounts directly from this page. Explore this page for more information, including a demonstration video

Student accounts allow your students to enter data and participate in forums. You will automatically be "friends" with your student, so any post that they write in any forum will show up on your "My Page" collaboration tab as a "Friend Activity." Student posts will always say they were posted by "Student of 'teacher name.'" You should never give students your account log-in details to interact with the GLOBE.gov site, as it may allow them to make greater changes or interact more than you intended.

Go to the -> "Do GLOBE" tab -> "For Students" link -> under the left-hand column select "Student Research Reports."  There, you will be able to use the tools to upload your report.

Visit the "Get Trained" page for details on registering and signing up for a workshop. You can access this by clicking on the "Get Trained" tab above.

If you do not see a workshop that meets your needs in time and location, we recommend that you contact your State partner(s), Country Coordinator or Regional Coordinator and ask them what their schedule is for the upcoming months. They may have a workshop in the planning stages (and knowing that there is interest in attending helps them plan). In order to locate contact information, we recommend using our Partner and Country Coordinator Search Tool.

You can also browse the GLOBE.gov website for contact information. For those in the U.S., explore this page for contact information on GLOBE Partners in the U.S. Scroll down to the desired state and select the name of the state for more links to find Partner information.

For other countries, please visit your Country or Region page (by moving the mouse on the Community Tab from the homepage then select GLOBE Countries and Members list Map, then select your country or region from the list in the bottom half of the page. On the Country or Region page, click on "Contact Information" for your Country Coordinator's information
