A few fun announcements for South Dakota GLOBE Educators:
Data and Stipends
You still have a month left to collect and report data in order to receive a stipend for the 1st quarter of 2018. No sure what to monitor? The Urban Heat Island campaign is calling for data in March. If you would like to participate with your students and need infrared thermometers, please let me know ASAP. The deadline to request thermometers is March 2nd.
Important: You must report the data to the GLOBE database by April 30 or your school will be invoiced for the thermometers.

GLOBE in the Field
Pierre/Badlands National Park
$50 (credit extra)
2 credits (pending)
We will spend one day in class and three in the field at Badlands National Park Sage Creek primitive campground doing field studies.Camping gear can be provided on a loaner basis so it is not required but a sense of adventure is. This is suitable for new and experienced GLOBE educators.
I am facilitating an online professional development opportunity and this month’s theme is Biomes. While looking for resources I found this map of biomes overlaying the land cover classification. (Turn on WWF_Biomes and GLOBE_MUC under the GLOBE Carbon Cycle Mapper.)
Reach out to me if you have any questions or need support putting GLOBE into your classroom.
