GLOBE Schools awarded at the US Embassy in Prague


Czech GLOBE team with a close cooperation of US Embassy has opened exhibition. „Children of GLOBE“ at the American Centre in Prague. The collection of photographs and posters introduces the story of students involved in GLOBE. As a part of this event, the most active schools were awarded for their amazing work in the GLOBE Program.

The opening of the exhibition was held at March 30th.The discussion panel of young GLOBE scientists and students presented the impact of GLOBE on their studies and career. One of them, Josef Bruna, joined the GLOBE program when he was only ten years old. Through his career in science he stayed with GLOBE and he is a member on the national GLOBE Science Board today.   The other panelist, GLOBE student Jan Cech, started at primary school and plans to pursue his studies at University level focusing on GIS. Young scientist Zuzana Lhotakova, closely cooperates with the GLOBE for many years and works as a researcher at Charles University in Prague.

During the Earth Day Week, Award Ceremony was held under the auspices of US Embassy to recognize schools projects and activities. The Czech GLOBE Star was award to three GLOBE schools: Elementary School Delnicka, Karvina for their exemplary work in inquiry-based education and spreading the method in the region, High School České Budějovice for long-term work in protecting nearby stream and Elementary School Kunratice was awarded for organizing international GLOBE Games 2015 in Czech Republic.

All awarded Schools received diplomas from the members of the Scientific Board of TEREZA, Educational Center in the premises of American center in Prague. Teachers from all schools were excited that their enthusiastic work for the GLOBE Program was appreciated and awarded with the participation of the representative of the US Embassy in Prague.   

The exhibition dedicated to the GLOBE program is displayed in the premises of American Center until end of May.
