Join the Unique GLOBE Games in the Czech Republic!
This year, the GLOBE Games will be hosted in the Czech Republic (Karvina) from 2-5 June. The event is open to GLOBE Country Coordinators, students, and teachers from the whole world.
GLOBE Games are organized by TEREZA Educational Center annually as a part of The GLOBE Program in the Czech Republic, which have been conducted since 1998. For GLOBE students, teachers, and Country Coordinators, the games are a unique opportunity to meet face to face, gain new experience and knowledge, initiate school-to-school collaborations, and take part in special environmental challenges. Join us, space is limited!
GLOBE Games 2016 will support students from the Czech Republic and other countries to share results of their GLOBE scientific projects based on their own inquiry, to learn from researchers and experts, and to experience the research field work in unique environment – the area of former coal mines, nowadays developing the process of revitalization. At the same time, the event will support GLOBE teachers by introducing them new powerful tools and projects for teaching science through the GLOBE Program.
We would like to invite up to 6 students and 1 or 2 teachers from each country!
WHEN & WHERE
The GLOBE Games 2016 will go on from 2nd to 5th June 2016. The event will take place in Karvina – a city in Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic (see the map) that is famous for its mining history.
GLOBE Games 2016 are organized by TEREZA Educational Center in close cooperation with two GLOBE schools – Delnicka Elementary School in Karvina and High Technical School in Karvina.
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS:
The number of participants is limited to max 6 students and 2 teachers from one country. GLOBE country coordinator is also invited. Students must be at least 12 years old, knowledge of English is required.
Students prepare a presentation on the topic “Our GLOBE research project” that will be presented during the student GLOBE Conference. We will send the assignment for the presentation in early April.
Are you a teacher who wants to come to the GLOBE Games without students?
No problem. Contact us and we will recommend you an appropriate part of the program :-)
PARTICIPATION FEE:
70 EUR/person – when sleeping in the dormitory or
50 EUR/person – when sleeping at school
The price includes:
- Accommodation at school or in the student’s dormitory
- Meals (3 meals a day, meat and vegetarian version) in the school canteen
- Travel costs related to the program (excursions, sightseeing, STC Ostrava)
- Assistance of volunteers of the TEREZA Educational Center and collaborating schools
- Materials to the GLOBE Games in English

- Contact us at globe@terezanet.cz as soon as possible - we will reserve space for your group and send you detailed information (registration, accommodation, transport etc..)
