CLIMATE CHANGE AND MOSQUITOES AT RUSHMORE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to test the relationship between climate change and diseases carried by mosquitoes. Students from Rushmore Middle School monitored weather using GLOBE Atmosphere protocols and pond and stream conditions using GLOBE Hydrology protocols. We then did independent experiments using mosquito eggs and larvae to better understand how factors like air and water temperature, water pH, larval concentration, light and water type affected mosquito hatching and growth.
