2018 GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposium Conclusions
From January to March 2018, GLOBE students from around the world submitted their research projects to 2018 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS). Among these were also 14 projects from the Europe and Eurasia region (Israel – 3 projects, Croatia – 7 projects, Estonia – 2 projects, Netherlands – 1 project, France – 1 project).
All projects were scored by a team of judges from the GLOBE International STEM Professionals Network. Every student project received a virtual Student Research Badge and up to three additional badges. Projects, that earner a 4-star Student Research Badge and at least two additional badges (from the optional six badges) were eligible for a chance in the drawing.

We at GLOBE acknowledge the contribution of the teachers and students in all the interesting and inspiring projects as well as for their participation in the 2018 GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposium. Big thanks also to the mentors and judges from Europe and Eurasia region for their work on evaluating these projects and to the country coordinators.
On 6 April, a live random drawing was held to select four projects for stipends to help offset the cost of attending the 2018 GLOBE Learning Expedition in Killarney, Ireland, in July. The record of the drawing can be viewed here.
We at GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Office are delighted that 1 GLOBE school from Europe and Eurasia Region were selected and will receive a $2000 USD stipend that will help to bring students to the GLOBE Learning Expedition in Killarney. The project is:
The Influence of Fireworks on the Amount of Aerosols

The project was also presented during a national GLOBE Netherlands training event in Wageningen. Students prepared an impressive 1-hour long presentation which captivated the audience.
