2022 GLOBE Regional Meeting Brings together GLOBE Community from Europe and Eurasia
The GLOBE Europe and Eurasia regional meeting is a time for the GLOBE community to meet, exchange ideas and share experiences. After the 2 years, when the community was meeting only online, this year´s Regional Meeting was very much expected to be a true highlight and unique opportunity to interact face to face and do hands on learning together.
Representatives of 24 countries, including Europe and Eurasia region states and the United States, attended the event, having diverse roles in the program: Country Coordinators, trainers, scientists, teachers, education experts, GLOBE alumni and U.S. Embassy representatives – altogether making 78 participants attending, not counting the students and teachers from a host school, Josip Pupacic Primary School in Omis, who were as well invited to join part of the program.
The first two days were for the GLOBE Country Coordinators to share the updates on the GLOBE Program implementation in schools in their country and do the networking for future projects. Among many other topics, this year coordinators discussed on how to connect GLOBE activities to Climate Change, or what are the most effective ways how to make GLOBE trainings sustainable in the country.
The second part of the week was dedicated to the GLOBE Community meeting which offered a successful format of a science education market, combined with trainings, field workshops, excursion and GLOBE school visit. For details on each workshop please check the event website.
Learning, reflecting, networking and planning - the benefits of the event are complex, as one of the participants commented, "GLOBE and multinational environment let me grow as a person, not only as a GLOBE coordinator."
The 2022 meeting was hosted by GLOBE Croatia and the Josip Pupacic Primary School in Omiš, who made the whole GLOBE community feeling at home in their beautiful city.
The event was organized by GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Region Coordination Office in cooperation with GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Board and GLOBE Implementation Office, USA.
