High School Students in 2022 SEES Intern Program Share Experience Presenting at AGU Fall Meeting 2022
In recent GLOBE Community Blogs, two high school students who participated in a collaboration effort between The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the NASA Texas Space Grant Consortium (TSGC) to extend the TSGC Summer Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) Internship program share their experience presenting scientific posters at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting.
Nikita A., a high school student at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Illinois, USA, said, “This was a great opportunity for me to share my team's research work with distinguished scientists and learn about the work that other researchers are doing. Through a collaborative exchange of ideas, I now have insights into how to further my research and thoughts on my next research project. At AGU, I met in person and networked with other NASA SEES interns, program directors, and mentors. We connected immediately, given our shared passion for Earth Science. This was an experience of a lifetime, attending and presenting at the world's largest Earth and Space science conference as a high school junior!”

Aswin S., a high school student at Bellarmine College Preparatory in California, USA, said, “On the big day, we presented from nine in the morning to noon, meeting several NASA scientists, geologists, astronomers, and fellow SEES interns. Those 3 hours flew by incredibly fast! I also found our poster on the virtual displays where virtual attendees could view it. That moment was one of the proudest I’ve ever felt, seeing our team’s research viewed by thousands of people.”
