National Park Foundation Offers "Every Kid in a Park" Pass
Beginning 1 September, The U.S. National Park Foundation will be offering an "Every Kid in a Park" Pass to all 4th graders and their families. This free park pass is part of a new initiative to provide the next generation of American national park visitors, supporters, and advocates the opportunity to experience and explore places that are home to this country's "natural treasures, rich history, and vibrant culture."
The goal is to open the gates – free of charge – to every 4th grade student across the United States so that they can explore national parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and more.
The Every Kid in a Park Pass will be good for the 2015-2016 school year (from 1 September 2015 through 31 August 2016).
This program is a part of the Foundation's Open Outdoors for Kids program, which is designed to help children learn history, culture, and science while exploring the great outdoors. The initiative is an administration-wide effort among the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
