California GLOBE Partners Gear Up for Collaboration

On 16-17 November 2018, GLOBE Partner Los Angeles Unified School District, with Master Trainer Henry Ortiz, will lead a GLOBE training for Los Angeles Public Library (new GLOBE Partner) in the field of Climate Science. Henry will team with Master Trainer Peggy Foletta from the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, a GLOBE Partnership, and Master Trainer Tracy Ostrom from the WestED/UC Berkeley GLOBE Partnership.  Together the trainers will primarily provide phenology and atmosphere protocol training over the two-day training period.  Training will not just include protocols, but data analysis and data entry will round out the training activities.  A fifth GLOBE Partner will also contribute to the training.  The California Academy of Sciences will lead a lunch discussion of their Science Action Club after school program.

The California GLOBE Partnerships see the value of bringing a variety of expertise and experiences to one another.  This example of collaboration can serve as a model for GLOBE partners throughout the US to work together, supporting each other's programs and seeking new opportunities to fund GLOBE collaboratively between partnerships.

We'll keep you posted on this effort as we move forward.
