California Strong Collaborative!

CA Strong LogoYes, that’s right, five California GLOBE-based organizations will be working together in the next year through the University Corporation of Atmospheric Research (UCAR) GLOBE Collaborative to support Earth System Science throughout California. The team consists of the WestEd/UC Berkeley GLOBE partnership (Tracy Ostrom and Svetlana Darche), the NASA JPL GLOBE partnership (Peter Falcon and Kay Ferrari), the SF Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (Matt Ferner), the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve GLOBE Partnership (Peggy Foletta) and the Office of Outdoor Environmental Education of the Los Angeles Unified School District (Gerardo Salazar).

We have formed this team to leverage existing expertise and resources within each organization and support expansion and/or deepen involvement in Earth System Science (ESS) practices for all. We are looking forward to working with UCAR to share ideas and best practices with our team as we work with as many California communities as possible to create and implement a sustainable plan for developing and/or strengthening a variety of ESS practices within and across a variety of programs. We hope to increase the connections between GLOBE, Earth System Science, NASA scientists and Ambassadors, and students of all ages and support the GLOBE Community as a whole.
