March: Join the GLOBE Urban Heat Island Effect (UHIE)-Surface Temperature IOP

GLOBE Students participating in the UHIE IOP

The March Urban Heat Island Effect (UHIE)-Surface Temperature Intensive Observation Period (IOP) will begin on Wednesday, 01 March, and will take place throughout the month.

The UHIE-Surface Temperature IOP takes place in March, October and December. IOPs involve GLOBE students, scientists, educators, and researchers collecting and entering targeted data into the GLOBE database during specific periods of time.

The March IOP will focus on looking at the impact urbanization has on the Earth’s surface temperature, and how surface temperature changes the dynamics of the Earth’s atmosphere. As always, your participation is invaluable to this scientific and educational endeavor.
