Have You Registered for the Annual Partner Meeting in Los Angeles?
GLOBE's 19th Annual Partner Meeting will be held in Los Angeles, 20-24 July. Working Groups in Science, Education, Evaluation, and Technology will convene on 19 July. In order to participate, please be aware of the following:
- Deadline for students and teachers who wish to register for the Student Research Experience is 10 June, with full payment due 19 June.
- Deadline for the Hilton (conference) Hotel has CHANGED to 26 June. Be sure to book your room by this date in order to guarantee the special conference rate. We cannot guarantee availability and room rates, if you book after 26 June.
- Deadline for general registration is 3 July.

GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Host Student Video Campaign
The GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Coordination Office has launched a video campaign to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The GLOBE Program.
All GLOBE schools in the Europe and Eurasia Region have been invited to create a short video that that illustrates their involvement with GLOBE. Videos may be crafted by individual students or by student teams and deadline for entries is 15 June 2015. For more information, click here.

Over the years, various GLOBE materials have been translated into multiple languages. The GLOBE website now has a Translated Materials Page where you can conveniently access all these materials in one place. If you are interested in volunteering to translate materials, please send an email to help@globe.gov.

NASA's Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) Mission Has Begun Science Operations
NASA's new Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission has begun science operations. Launched 31 January on a minimum three-year mission, SMAP will help scientists understand links among Earth's water, energy and carbon cycles; reduce uncertainties in predicting climate; and enhance our ability to monitor and predict natural hazards like floods and droughts. SMAP data have additional practical applications, including improved weather forecasting and crop yield predictions.

Important Information Regarding Thermometers for Data Entry
GLOBE no longer recommends liquid-filled maximum/ minimum thermo-meters for recording maximum and minimum air temperatures. It has been determined that this type of thermometer, which uses a magnet to reset the floats, becomes demagnetized and/or the floats stick within the tube, especially during fast temperature changes.
GLOBE encourages you to use a digital maximum/minimum thermometer for maximum and minimum air temperature measurements. If you are currently using a u-tube thermometer we highly encourage you to replace it with a digital mode
Free Webinars for NASA STEM Educators
The NASA STEM Educator Professional Development Collaborative (EPDC) is presenting a series of no-cost webinars open to all educators. All pre-service, K-12, and informal educators, as well as university faculty, are invited to join NASA education specialists to learn about NASA missions, activities, lesson plans, educator guides, and online resources that integrate NASA and STEM into the classroom.
An upcoming webinar, "Exploring Strange New Worlds: Exploring Ice in the Solar System" is geared toward educators in grade levels 5 through 8. This webinar is presented by John Weis, and will be held from 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET on 6 July.
2016 GLOBE International Virtual Science Fair
It's not too early to start thinking about the 2016 GLOBE International Virtual Science Fair! The deadline for submission of projects is 11 March 2016 and awards will be announced on or before Earth Day, 22 April 2016. Visit the Science Fair website for more details.

World Oceans Day- 8 June
World Oceans Day, held every 8 June, is the United Nations-recognized day of ocean celebration and action. People all over our blue planet organize celebrations to support action to protect the ocean. This year, the theme is Healthy Oceans,Healthy Planet. A major goal this year is to help people reduce their disposable plastic use, to keep the ocean and its animals safer and healthier. Click here for more information
