The 2018 GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE), held in Killarney, Ireland (01-06 July), served as a memorable, and motivational, gathering of GLOBE students, teachers, STEM professionals, scientists, and program staff and sponsors. The GLE, held every four years, provides the venue for GLOBE community members to come together to learn about GLOBE protocols, share research, enjoy a variety of cultural exchanges, create enduring friendships, and establish collaborative connections. In 2018, more than 400 participants from 39 countries attended the sixth GLE.

In a recent blog, Dr. Tony Murphy, Director of the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO), shares his thoughts and impressions of the 2018 GLE. In his blog, Dr. Murphy also expresses his hope that everyone who attended the GLE was able to leave Killarney (his home town) with special memories and stories of friendship, both new and renewed. He invites everyone who attended the event to share their stories or comments about the GLE.

It is GLOBE's tradition to present this “Week in Review” before everyone parts company. It is now being shared with everyone to convey the spirit of the event.
