As the GIO announced a call for nominations for GLOBE working groups, where i happen to have served for the period 2016 - 2019, my seniors at the University asked members of faculty, to demonstrate how we have contributed towards SDGs for the last 2 years? Suprisingly its the small things i have been doing in GLOBE which have given me mileage over my colleagues. Wow....what an experience the 2018 GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) in Killarney was! GLOBE meetings are always intense and GLEs are even more so. Such was the case at my first GLE in India in 2014 and 2018 in Ireland proved no exception. However, this particular GLE was very special to me on many levels. On June 4-7, 2018, I participated in the Annual Country Representative meeting and Strategic Planning for Sustainability and Participation workshop in Lome, Togo. The meeting was followed by Teacher training in the GLOBE Observer Apps and a Mosquito/Zika training workshop. The Training was rewarding and the need for Liberia to begin immediate action is now.
The Liberia office will be conducting 6 GLOBE Observers Apps and Mosquito/Zika Virus training Workshop soon. Participants will be selected from Public Health Workers, Scientists, teachers and Community Leaders ...

I am hearing more and more conversations center around "bundling," particularly when it comes to NGSS ( Next Generation Science Standards ). Sometimes, in my GLOBE world, it is a conversation around bundling the protocols together. I know that some teachers already do this when they take students outside for field investigations. We are very fortunate to have a collaborative relationship with Dr. Joseph Kerski , the Education Manager from Esri . To advance our work together, he produced a couple short webinars on using GLOBE data in ArcGIS Online and wrote a blog about it too.

The hotel and dorm rooms are being reserved across the country for the United States Regional Student Research Symposia (SRS) . The agendas are roughed out. The speakers are confirming. Students are carrying out GLOBE protocols and analyzing data. Teachers are applying for funding to support team travel (due February 1st).
All of this gives me a chance to think about the students that have attended the SRS the past two years. GLOBE Partnership coordinators, GIO and I have met some incredible students and teachers. We'll be posting their stories for you to read too. The first one ...
