At the Annual Meeting in Connecticut this summer, I asked the United States GLOBE partners and teachers to write down one GLOBE-related accomplishment on an index card. It could be either professional or personal, something that was time-consuming or one that took minutes. Whatever it was, it had to have made them proud or excited about their year in GLOBE. The responses are below:
One of the 21CCLC (after school) student groups that I worked with attended and received a Science Research Award at the SRS in New Jersey.
Wrote an article on Education Outreach - various ...

My GLOBE trip to Israël - Jelle Kabbes, geopraphy teacher at the Rembrandt College, assistent country coördinator, The Netherlands
What a remarkable journey this is. A journey where science, education en cultures meet.
I thought to travel to a country where people, cultures and religions constantly are in conflict. Of course this tension is very sensible in a the city of Jeruzalem. A city devided by both visible and invisible walls. A city where 18 year old boys walk around with automatic firearms while updating their Instagram. They’re barely adults. The city where the ...

Prepare your Research Plan
Prof. Constantinos Cartalis (University of Athens)
___________________________________________________________________________
The selection of the research strategy for the formulation of your research plan is probably the most important decision to be made. The choice of the strategy, whether analytical, experimental, descriptive or a combination of these, depends on several inter-correlated parameters and preconditions. Broadly speaking a research plan has four main points:
explanation of proposed research ( what will be done) ...

Currently, Science education has transitioned away from textbooks to more hands on learning. This is an amazing opportunity for teachers to move away from the normal lecturing and explaining in class to reshaping the process of learning.
I think that the GLOBE Program is a fantastic organization and empowered program that promises to give an essential change in education. One example is teaching and learning from directs activities in the field.
An excellent activity is to share data from school to school through collaboration. Students can share what they are ...

Croatian GLOBE community has been organizing Science Fairs for the past 18 years, with the goal to encourage and promote students' research projects. Each year the judges select 30 - 40 school projects for the presentation at the GLOBE fair and for publishing on Croatian GLOBE website http://globe.pomsk.hr/smotra2017/zadar_17_projekti.htm . Among the projects at the fair, there are always several joint school projects. Usually, collaborating schools are from the same region, which gives them the opportunity to meet face to face and organize joint fieldwork or working sessions. ...

This week's blog is written by Bonnie Banyas , a teacher at Memorial School in Newton, NH . The New Hampshire Education and Environment Team (NHEET) , funded through a state Math Science Partnership grant , was able to support the purchase and installation of a weather shelter at Memorial School (and the other participating schools) and the associated supplies for collecting environmental data. These materials were used to implement field investigation units in several grade levels, centered around the theme for 2016-2017, " Atmosphere, Weather and Climate ." Bonnie generously ...

Nowadays a very important aspect in education is to work in collaboration with other schools and students. It is important to do good planning and set dates for different collaboration activities.
The GLOBE Program provides the opportunity to connect students from all over the world and to work collaboratively with another school.
In several schools this methodology of teaching and communication is being carried out. The experience of participating in collaborative work is very important and one of the points to keep in mind is the connection between the teachers to organize it. ...

Last week in New Hampshire we had two snow days and yesterday, another! Finally! Meanwhile, I know some other regions of the country have been having record high temperatures and torrential rain. Isn't weather amazing?
The weekly update went out a few hours ago to the teachers signed up on our United States GLOBE Student Research Symposia (SRS) Listserve but here is the link in case you aren't on it yet: http://eepurl.com/cA-Mfn.
Don't forget to stop by this afternoon (or morning for the those of you checking in from Alaska and Hawaii) to ask any questions you may have ...

Happy snow day from New Hampshire! Today was a perfect day for me to send out the first email message to 48 subscribed GLOBE teachers through the SRS list AND update the U.S. GLOBE Twitter profile. The picture on our Twitter profile is one I captured at the GLOBE Annual Meeting in Estes Park, CO. Not a bad place for field work.
Subscribers to the United States GLOBE SRS Weekly update list received this message: http://eepurl.com/cAuwIv. U.S. GLOBE teachers, if you are considering attending a regional SRS, I highly recommend you join the list to stay updated!

Loosely defined, "Internet of Things" commonly referred by the acronym IoT, refers to systems of interrelated computing devices, machines, or "objects", provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human "assistance".
A thing, in the Internet of Things, can be a fridge with a barcode reader, person with a heart monitor implant, an elephant with a GPS collar, a house with light sensors for opening/closing the window curtains - or any other natural or man-made object that can be assigned an Internet address and provided with the ...
