Making a Workshop Active FRUSTRATING

There have been great improvements in the workshop creation tool but one frustrating 'feature' that seems to be causing a lot of people problems is that we have to complete step one and step two then go BACK to step one in order to make a workshop active. Otherwise our workshops are forever pending. If making the workshop active has to happen after assigning trainers then that IS step 3 not a timewarp to step 1.

STEP 1 - Submit workshop Details
STEP 2 - Add Trainers
STEP 3 - Make Workshop Active
STEP 4 - Create/View Roster

Not a STEP: Access to workshop resources.

Arrg!

Agree 100% Marcy - after doing some training recently and setting up workshops, had the same experience...and pain We're looking to re-do the workflow with a couple of ideas -

1) where it says "pending" in red on the worksheet admin page - make that a drop down so you can change status right there.
2) Need GLOBE policy change, but allow you to make the workshop active without assigning all trainers

The developer who would do this is about 1-2 weeks away from wrapping up some notifications work, and as soon as he's done, we'll switch him back over to this. Any preferences or ideas relative to the items above?

thanks - keep the ideas coming!

Thanks Marcy and David. This tool will improve with feedback like this. As David mentioned there are a number of improvements coming, and your feedback will assist everyone on things that can make your workflow easier.

Following up again- the changes are in test right now. One is the ability to make a workshop active without requiring you to "go back" into the edit form. The other is removing the requirement to assign all trainers before you can make the workshop go live. With these changes, you should be able to make a workshop go-live more easily and with less hassle. We expect to have this out in less than 2 weeks.

Changes are in place in production. You can now make a workshop live right after you created it, and through a link at the top of the page.

We've removed the requirement that you have all trainers in place across all protocols, so you can also "go-live" immediately and fill in details later.

There is also a "friendly URL" (workshop registration URL) listed in the admin area which you can put on flyers or emails that will allow teachers to go to the link directly and easily.

Should make it quicker and easier to get a workshop live and get your teachers to sign up.
