Dear friends,

In the last newsletter, you could read [url=]the interview with Czech phenologist Lenka Hájková. During spring, Lenka will send us news about changes in nature in the Czech Republic. Here is the first one:

With early spring and the awakening of vegetation, we can enjoy the so-called spring aspect. It is the time when you can see plenty of spring flowering plants in a forest. Spring aspect comes when the weather gets warmer, days are prolonged, the soil is moist and tree leaves don’t yet cast a shadow on the forest floor. Typical species of the spring aspect is Wood anemone.

From the pollen allergens, Goat willow is still flowering in many localities and European hornbeam and Silver birch gradually begin to flower. Flowers of hazel and alder have mostly faded.

Some fruit trees also start flowering. One of them is apricot that flowers very early in the spring.
