Our Fig Tree in Autumn

Hello everyone!! Greetings from Gozo, Malta

Schools in Malta will open next week. Many restrictions will be in place due to the Covid pandemic however we shall observe the same tree we were observing during Spring. This morning I went to check our branch on the fig tree. The green ribbon is still there and so the leaves we were observing. The colour is still green with some dark brown patches and I noticed some new leaves coming out. You might think this is strange, new leaves come out in Spring not in Autumn, but it is very common in Malta. With the first rain and high temperatures new leaves come out but these will soon fall when temperatures become cooler. 

I am sharing all this information with my students through online meetings and chat groups. They will still be involved through research and sharing of ideas. 

The weather today is sunny with some scattered clouds. Temperature is 27 degrees Celsius.
