Greetings from the Maltese Islands! Xrobb l-Għaġin is a Nature Park in the South East of Malta.
The tree that will be followed during this spring campaign is the African Tamarisk, the only deciduous tree species present on site.
On 5th March early afternoon, 4 swollen buds were chosen for observation.
The tree had a mixture of swollen buds and leaves already sprouting and growing long because we had a relatively warm February! Some other African Tamarisk trees on site have early flowers as well!
Air temperature at time of observation was 23 degrees Celsius.
So eager to follow these buds burst and grow. Looking forward to follow the ones across Europe through your pictures and take these nature observations into homes and classes through the current
online virtual fieldworks from the park.
